The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis MD 21401

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 252 - Education - Worcester County Board of Education - Election of Members - Straw Poll.

This bill requires a question to be placed on the ballot in Worcester County at the November 2000 general election to determine the sense of the voters on the issue of changing the method of selecting school board members from appointment by the Governor to election by county voters.

House Bill 201, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on April 25, 2000, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 252.

Sincerely,
Parris N. Glendening
Governor
