Income Tax - Surcharge for Lack of Health Care Coverage

Synopsis:

Imposing a 1% surcharge on the Maryland taxable income of specified individuals with income above a specified level; providing that the surcharge does not apply if specified individuals had health care coverage or did not reside in the State; providing for exceptions; requiring an employer to base withholding for specified employees on a specified number of exemptions; requiring the Comptroller to publicize the requirements of the Act; etc.
