Vehicle Laws - Approaching Emergency Vehicles Parked on Highway - Driver's Duties

Synopsis:

Requiring drivers approaching emergency vehicles stopped, standing, or parked on a highway and using any visual signals to vacate the lane closest to the emergency vehicle if possible and slow to a speed sufficient to ensure the safety of police officers or emergency services personnel under specified circumstances; requiring the Motor Vehicle Administration to assess 3 points against a person who violates the Act; requiring the MVA and the Department of State Police to conduct a public education and awareness campaign; etc.
