Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 272 - This bill authorizes municipal corporations in the State to create within their respective corporate limits special taxing districts for the purpose of financing specified capital and operating costs to enhance police and fire protection and rescue services; etc.
Senate Bill 2, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 272.
