Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 1578 - This bill amends the Baltimore City - Maryland Historical Society Loan of 1996 to require that the loan proceeds be encumbered by the Board of Public Works or expended for the purposes provided in the Act by June 1, 2006.
Senate Bill 338, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 1578.
