HIV Testing - Informed Consent and Treatment

Synopsis:

Altering requirements for health care providers to obtain informed consent for HIV testing; establishing procedures for referral for treatment and supportive services for individuals who test positive; requiring specified health care providers to notify pregnant women that they will be tested for HIV infection as part of routine tests; requiring specified health care providers to advise pregnant women that they have the right to refuse the test for HIV infection without penalty; etc.
