State Tobacco Tax - Smoking and Cancer Prevention Fund

Synopsis:

Increasing the tobacco tax rate from 36 to 61 cents per package of 20 cigarettes; reducing from 1.36% to 0.802623% the discount allowed a wholesaler for tax stamps for FY 1996 and FY 1997; distributing the additional tobacco tax revenue resulting from the increase to a specified fund for specified purposes; providing for a program to encourage and assist tobacco growers in the State to convert tobacco farmland to other productive uses; providing for grants to the Maryland Association of County Health Officers; etc.
