Income Tax - Reduction

Synopsis:

Reducing from 2% to 0% the income tax rate applicable to Maryland taxable income of $1 through $1,000; increasing from $1,200 to $1,600 the maximum amount of a subtraction modification for two-income married couples filing joint returns; increasing from $1,200 to $2,200 the amount that an individual may deduct for specified exemptions to determine Maryland taxable income; providing for calculation of the county income tax based on an alternative determination of the State income tax; and applying the Act to tax years after 1997.
