Firefighters and Emergency Medical Personnel - Judicial Review of Disciplinary Actions

Synopsis:

Allowing a circuit court to stay enforcement of a county or municipal agency decision ordering the suspension or termination of a firefighter or emergency medical services employee when that decision is based on the employee's alleged criminal conduct, if staying the decision would not substantially impair the operation of the employing agency or pose any substantial risk to the public; and requiring a circuit court reviewing an agency decision to admit additional evidence under certain circumstances.
