Prince George's County - Pretrial Release for Defendants Charged with Crimes of Violence PG 314-97

Synopsis:

Prohibiting in Prince George's County a District Court Commissioner from releasing pretrial a defendant who has been charged with a crime of violence who has previously been convicted of a crime of violence; allowing a judge to release pretrial a defendant under conditions that assure the defendant will not flee or pose a danger; prohibiting a judge from releasing a defendant pretrial if no conditions will assure that the defendant will not flee or pose a danger; and establishing a rebuttable presumption that a defendant will flee or pose a danger.
