Sales and Use Tax - Additional State Funding for Education

Synopsis:

Increasing the sales and use tax rate from 5% to 5.5%; requiring the Comptroller to distribute one-eleventh of the net sales and use tax revenues to a special fund to be used to provide additional State funding for primary and secondary education in the State; requiring the State to distribute for each fiscal year specified supplemental aid for education to each county school board and the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore City and specified targeted aid for education to jurisdictions meeting specified eligibility requirements; etc.
