Vehicle Laws - Failure of Driver to Remain at Scene of Serious Accident - Penalties

Synopsis:

Increasing the penalties that may be imposed on a driver convicted of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death or serious bodily injury to, for a first offense, a fine of not more than $2,000 or imprisonment for not more than 1 year or both, for a second offense, a fine of not more than $3,000 or imprisonment for not more than 3 years or both, and for a third or subsequent offense, a fine of not more than $5,000 or imprisonment for not more than 4 years or both.
