Taxation of Smokeless Tobacco Products - Tobacco Awareness Fund

Synopsis:

Creating a Tobacco Awareness Fund to be administered by the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene and to be used for a crop conversion program in the Department of Agriculture and for disseminating cancer prevention messages designed to discourage the use of tobacco products; extending the tobacco tax to smokeless tobacco products at the rate of 25% of the wholesale price; requiring the Comptroller to distribute the revenue from the tobacco tax on smokeless tobacco products to the Tobacco Awareness Fund; etc.
