Divorce and Annulment - Removal of Barriers to Remarriage

Synopsis:

Requiring a party to a marriage that was performed by a religious official to include statements in an application for divorce or annulment that allege that the applicant has taken all possible steps to remove all barriers to remarriage by the other party; prohibiting a court, when considering an application for an absolute divorce or annulment under the Act, from issuing a decree of divorce or annulment unless specified statements are filed; defining a term; providing a penalty under specified circumstances; etc.
