Health Maintenance Organizations - Nonprofit Status Required

Synopsis:

Requiring each health maintenance organization operating in the State to be a nonprofit organization after October 1, 2002; requiring the Insurance Commissioner, in consultation with the Maryland Health Care Commission and the Office of the Attorney General, to establish a plan for the conversion of health maintenance organizations to nonprofit status on or before October 1, 2002; authorizing the Commissioner to accept a plan for conversion submitted by the health maintenance organization involved in the conversion; etc.
