The Honorable Casper R. Taylor, Jr.
Speaker of the House
State House
Annapolis MD 21401
Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 818 - Insurance Rating Law - Exempt Commercial Policyholders.
This bill exempts insurance policies issued to large commercial policyholders from form filing requirements with the Maryland Insurance Administration. For the policy to be considered exempt, the commercial policyholder must meet specified criteria and must certify in writing to the insurer issuing coverage that it meets the criteria necessary for the exemption.
Senate Bill 598, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me today, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 818.
Sincerely,
Parris N. Glendening
Governor
