The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis MD 21401

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 21 - Military Service Credit - Membership in Maryland National Guard.

This bill provides members of the State Retirement and Pension System with four months of military service credit for each year of service with the Maryland National Guard with up to a maximum of 36 months of military service credit for Maryland National Guard service.

House Bill 897, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me today, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 21.

Sincerely,
Parris N. Glendening
Governor
