The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis MD 21401
Dear Mr. President:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 196 - eMaryland Initiative.
This bill establishes a CEO Board of Advisors for E-Commerce and an "eMaryland" Application Service Provider Consortium to assist in Maryland's efforts to create the most advanced electronic business environment in the nation and become an international leader in the deployment of new Internet technologies. The bill also provides the consortium with a funding stream through the Information Technology Investment Fund.
House Bill 276, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on April 25, 2000, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 196.
Sincerely,
Parris N. Glendening
Governor
