Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 592 - Juvenile Law - Juvenile Court Jurisdiction - Peace Orders.

This bill transfers jurisdiction over peace order proceedings in which the respondent is a child from the District Court of Maryland to the juvenile court.

House Bill 675, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 11, 2000, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 592.
