Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 793 - Judith P. Hoyer Early Child Care and Education Enhancement Program.

This bill establishes the Judith P. Hoyer Early Child Care and Education Enhancement Program to promote school readiness through developing and expanding high quality, comprehensive, full-day early child care and education programs and family support services. Local school systems are eligible to apply for grants under the program.

House Bill 1249, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me today, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 793.
