Welfare Innovation Act of 2001

Synopsis:

Requiring the Maryland Higher Education Commission, with the Department of Human Resources, to coordinate efforts among institutions of higher education to encourage and identify student volunteers to help provide mentoring to Family Investment Program recipients; increasing the amount of time between when an individual was a former FIP recipient and when the individual may participate in the Job Skills Enhancement Program to 36 months; requiring the Secretary of Human Resources to establish a mentoring program; etc.
