Public Schools - Improvement of Education Act of 2001

Synopsis:

Authorizing a county board of education to use salary enhancements to recruit or retain teachers in critical shortage subject areas as certified by the county superintendent of schools and approved by the State Superintendent of Schools; requiring a county board to establish the salary enhancements outside of the collective bargaining process; and creating an exception to matters that a county board is required under specified circumstances to negotiate with an exclusive negotiating agent for public school employees in the county.
