Health Insurance - Nonprofit Health Service Plans - Premium Tax

Synopsis:

Requiring specified nonprofit health service plans to participate in the Maryland Medical Assistance Program as a managed care organization in order to qualify for a specified tax exemption; altering the consequences of a determination by the Insurance Commissioner that a nonprofit health service plan has failed to satisfy certain requirements; and requiring that specified taxes collected be used to fund a specified prescription drug plan.
