Entitled:
Nonprofit Health Service Plans - Financial Audit to Determine Value of Public Benefits

Synopsis:

Requiring the Maryland Insurance Commissioner, in consultation with the Legislative Auditor, to contract with an independent consultant that has expertise in health care economics to perform a 5-year retrospective financial audit to determine the value of public benefits received by nonprofit health service plans; specifying the contents of the retrospective audit; and requiring the independent consultant to make a report on the findings of the retrospective audit by December 1, 2002.
