Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 57 - Clerks of Circuit Courts - Statutory Fee for Administering Oath of Office.

This bill repeals the statutory authorization for a clerk of a circuit court to collect a fee of $.10 for administering an oath for specified offices.

Senate Bill 141, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 57.
