Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 816 - State Employees - Military Administrative Leave.

This bill authorizes the provision of military administrative leave for specified State employees who are on active military duty on a specified date or are activated for military duty on or after a specified date.

Senate Bill 505, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 816.
