The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis MD 21401

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed Senate Bill 464 - Dorchester County - Board of Education - Election of Members.

This bill provides that members of the Dorchester County Board of Education shall be elected. Moreover, the bill establishes a procedure for the election of members to the Dorchester County Board of Education, and establishes a specified term of office for elected members. The bill provides for the removal of members under specified circumstances. Additionally, the bill provides for specified student nonvoting members, and provides a procedure for filling a vacancy on the County Board. Finally, the bill provides for the election of the president and vice president of the County Board.

House Bill 596, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 464.

Sincerely,
Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr.
Governor
