Motor Vehicle Theft - Penalties

Synopsis:

Increasing the penalties for a person convicted of the felony of taking a motor vehicle; clarifying the value of a motor vehicle subject to the Act; adding penalties for multiple convictions under the Act; prohibiting a court from imposing specified penalties unless the State's Attorney serves a notice on the defendant or the defendant's counsel; and removing an offense from the exclusive original jurisdiction of the District Court.
