Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 377 - Board of Public Works - Baltimore Zoo - Lease Payments.

This bill requires that any payments due by the State for the Baltimore Zoo under a lease or sublease agreement be included in the annual budget for the Board of Public Works. It also states that the intent of the General Assembly is that the name of the zoo be altered to be the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.

Senate Bill 141, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on April 27, 2004, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 377.
