Vehicle Laws - Antitheft Provisions - Key Duplication and Possession

Synopsis:

Requiring a person duplicating a motor vehicle key using the vehicle identification number or key code to record specified information concerning the requesting individual; requiring that the recorded information be kept for 2 years and open to inspection; prohibiting an individual from possessing a key with the intent to commit vehicle theft; prohibiting a person from attempting to duplicate a vehicle key without permission from the vehicle's owner; establishing specified penalties for violations of the Act; etc.
