Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 22 - State Employees - Military Administrative Leave - Sunset Extension.

This bill extends the termination date for the use of military administrative leave or specified paid leave for State employees who were on active military duty on July 1, 2003 or were activated for military duty on or after July 1, 2003. The Act terminates on June 30, 2006. Senate Bill 31, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 22.
