Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 544 - This bill increases the salary of the Sheriff of Frederick County to $100,000 and provides that the Act does not apply to the salary or compensation of the incumbent Sheriff of Frederick County.
Senate Bill 439, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 544.
