The Honorable Michael E. Busch
Speaker of the House
State House
Annapolis, MD 21401

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 892 - Allegany County - Alcoholic Beverages - License Expiration.

This bill establishes that in Allegany County an alcoholic beverages license expires 180 days after the licensee has closed the business or ceased active alcoholic beverages business operations and provides for exceptions to specified expiration provisions. The bill also authorizes the Board of License Commissioners, under specified circumstances, to grant an extension not exceeding a specified period and alters a specified exception to a restriction on the authority of the Board of License Commissioners to issue licenses. Senate Bill 575, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 892.

Very truly yours,
Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr.
Governor
