Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed Senate Bill 268 - Education - School-Based Employees - Stipends.

This bill expands the eligibility for a stipend of up to a maximum of $2,000 for certificated school-based employees who work directly with students or teachers and who hold a certificate issued by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. House Bill 330, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 268.
