The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, MD 21401
Dear Mr. President:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed Senate Bill 786 - Hurricane Isabel Disaster Relief Act - Reporting Requirements - Financial Assistance Applications - Extension of Termination.
This emergency bill extends until September 30, 2006 the date on or before which the Department of Housing and Community Development shall issue to the General Assembly a final report on the implementation of the Hurricane Isabel Disaster Relief Act. The bill also extends through May 31, 2006 the date on which Section 1 of the Hurricane Isabel Disaster Relief Act shall be terminated, and provides for deadlines for applications for financial assistance under the Hurricane Isabel Disaster Relief Act until September 30, 2005.
House Bill 1281, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 786.
Very truly yours,
Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr.
Governor
