Ancillary Services
Requiring a managed care organization participating in the Maryland
Medical Assistance Program to separately and independently determine
the medical necessity of ancillary services provided during a
hospitalization from the medical necessity of the hospitalization or
part of the hospitalization; and prohibiting managed care
organizations from basing the denial of payments for ancillary
services provided during a hospitalization on a determination of the
medical necessity of all or part of the hospitalization.
