Synopsis:Prohibiting a judge from issuing a summons directing a witness to attend and testify in court outside the State if the witness is a specified member of the news media and the judge finds the laws of the state in which the prosecution is pending regarding privileged communications with the news media do not protect the witness in a way similar to those provided in Maryland, and the likelihood exists that the witness will be directed to disclose the name of a confidential source or be held in contempt of court.
