The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis MD 21401

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 392 - Emergency Vehicles - Use of Flashing Lights While Parking and Backing.

This bill authorizes an emergency vehicle to use its flashing lights when parking or backing the vehicle within 100 feet of an entrance to a fire or rescue station. It also prohibits a driver from passing an emergency vehicle within 100 feet of an entrance of a fire or rescue station when the vehicle is parking or backing.

House Bill 625, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 392.

Sincerely,
Parris N. Glendening
Governor
