Maryland Health Insurance Reform - Application to Self-Employed Individuals

Synopsis:

Altering the definition of self-employment under the Maryland Health Insurance Reform Act to include, under specified circumstances, an individual whose income is derived from self-employment regardless of how the individual's business is organized; authorizing health insurance carriers to request documentation from a person to verify that the person meets specified criteria for insurance purposes; and providing for exceptions to the Act.
