Regulated Firearms - Possession After Conviction of Crime of Violence - Penalties

Synopsis:

Establishing that a person who is convicted of possessing a regulated firearm after having been previously convicted of a crime of violence is guilty of a felony and on conviction shall, for a first offense, be sentenced to the Maryland Division of Correction for not less than 5 years and not more than 10 years, and for a second offense, be sentenced to not less than 10 years and not more than 20 years; establishing the eligibility for parole for a person sentenced under the Act; prohibiting a court from taking specified actions; etc.
