Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 545 - Baltimore County - Arbutus Community Center Loan of 2000.

This bill changes; (1) the title for the Baltimore County - Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Maryland, Inc. Loan of 2000 to the Baltimore County - Arbutus Community Center Loan of 2000; and (2) the grantee from the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Maryland, Inc. to the County Executive and County Council of Baltimore County. The bill also alters the purpose of the loan to include demolition of the existing building in Arbutus, Maryland and extends the deadline, from June 1, 2002 to June 1, 2004 for the grantee to provide matching funds.

Senate Bill 464, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 545.
