Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 310 - State Board of Social Work Examiners - Sunset Extension and Program Evaluation.

This bill continues the State Board of Social Work Examiners in accordance with the provisions of the Maryland Program Evaluation Act by extending the termination of provisions relating to authority of the Board to July 1, 2014;. Furthermore, this legislation requires the Board and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to submit a report to specified legislative committees on or before October 1, 2003.

Senate Bill 268, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 310.
