Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 206 - Criminal Procedure - United States Park Police - Authority to Enforce Maryland Law in National Park System.

This bill grants a United States Park Police officer specified powers to enforce Maryland law, within areas of the National Park System, and authorizes a United States Park Police officer to issue a citation under specified circumstances.

Senate Bill 139, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 11, 2004, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 206.
