Self-Defense Act of 1996

Synopsis:

Altering the requirements and procedures for application for, and issuance of, a handgun permit; authorizing the holder of a permit to carry a handgun for self-defense without showing a good and substantial reason for carrying a handgun; eliminating modified and limited handgun permits; authorizing the holder of another state's permit to carry a handgun in this State; allowing suspension of the application process if the applicant is arrested for a crime that makes the applicant ineligible to receive a permit; etc.
