Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 617 - Department of Aging - Senior Citizens Activities Center Operating Fund.

This bill establishes the Senior Citizens Activities Center Operating Fund within the Department of Aging to provide additional funds to economically distressed areas for senior citizens activities centers.

House Bill 759, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me today, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 617.
