Criminal Law - Theft or Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle - Admissibility of Owner Affidavit

Synopsis:

Authorizing the admissibility of an affidavit by an owner of a motor vehicle who is not present at trial into evidence at a trial for specified crimes involving the theft, taking, or unauthorized use of the motor vehicle; requiring the State to provide the defendant with a copy of the affidavit and notice that the State intends to rely on and introduce the affidavit into evidence; providing that subsequent notice to the defendant is not required; authorizing the defendant to require the State to compel testimony; etc.
