May 26, 2004

The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis, MD 21401

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 482 - Real Property Sales - Disclosure Requirements - Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Critical Area.

This bill requires a contract, or an addendum to a contract, for the sale of real property to contain a conspicuous statement advising the buyer that the property may be located in the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Critical Area. It states that specified regulations apply in the critical area and that a buyer may determine if critical area regulations apply by contacting the local planning and zoning agency.

House Bill 1030, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 11, 2004, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 482.

Very truly yours,
Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr.
Governor
