The Honorable Michael E. Busch
Speaker of the House
State House
Annapolis, MD 21401

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 1500 - Law Enforcement Officers' Pension System - Transfers of Members of the Maryland Transit Administration Police Force. This bill transfers members of the Maryland Transit Administration Police Force from the Maryland Transit Administration Pension System to the Law Enforcement Officers' Pension System. The bill also requires the Maryland Transit Administration to pay to the Board of Trustees for the State Retirement and Pension System specified employer contributions and to transfer specified employer contributions to the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is required to deposit funds to the Law Enforcement Officers' Pension System Accumulation Fund. Senate Bill 930, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 1500.

Very truly yours,
Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr.
Governor
