Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 1153.

This bill repeals the September 30, 1999 termination date for current law providing that a home health agency accredited by an organization approved by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) is deemed to meet State licensure standards.

Senate Bill 773, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 13, 1999, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 1153.
