Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 259.

This bill requires the Division of State Documents to make available to the public, at no cost, direct on-line searching of the Code of Maryland Regulation, the Maryland Register and any other material the division determines to be in the public interest.

House Bill 858, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 27, 1999, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 259.
